T O P I C R E V I E WMichaelAn interesting story. What does everybody think of this item?Mike DixonMy eyes deceiving me or is that a photo/print that's been laminated?ilbassoAnd according to the description, this was "about 10 years ago," which would make it 5 years after Armstrong stopped signing.GerryMMike... Save your money, its bad. I don't know what's worse, the lame story he told or the autograph. It truly is amazing (and sad) the stories the sellers tell on eBay. Gerry MontagueAstronaut ArchiveskeelerphotoArmstrong signed a few autographs in 1999, I know because I have them, David spaced outI don't know about the signature but Armstrong looks extremely unimpressed in the photo. As for the story - can someone explain to me why would Neil be carrying a bizarre glossy borderless WSS photo in his briefcase? One thing's for sure - it certainly sounds like the guy is a pro at harassing celebrities at airports.jimszMaybe it happened the way the seller describes, maybe not. It's ebay, buyer beware.I would be interesting to see the second photograph the seller claims to have received that was signed and personalized.AstroAutosDon't waste your money. I mean he may well be telling the truth, but its a lame story. Its got fake written all over it!DirkI also asked the seller information about this signed litho (as I also did not believe the story). This was his answer: Your choice to believe my story but that's what happened...same thing happened to me with Alan Shepard at Washington Dulles Airport...You want me to send you a copy of that photo to? better yet...go to my web site and click on astronaut hall of fame. I have met 9 of the 12 moon walkers IN airports. I travel 250 days a year with my work. My supposition is Neil was on his way to attend a gathering or a symposium and brought photos with him.ea757grrlI had a few moments, so I looked at the guy's website. So many of those photos of him with famous people (including the one of him with Neil Armstrong) remind me of Roger Ebert's advice to never ask a movie star to pose for a photograph with you: "They may smile, but they're gritting their teeth."jodiemjanovecSounds like BS to me, but I don't doubt that he might have met Armstrong in an airport at one time...and probably harassed him for a signature (the look on Neil's face says it all). I'm doubtful that Neil gave him one...and I'm doubly doubtful that the signature shown on eBay is authentic. Plus, Armstrong had married Carol by 1994. Janet was long out of the picture by the time this encounter supposedly occurred.fabfivefreddyCaveat emptor. Big time. Tahir MichaelWell this item went for $2079.00. Is there a way to contact the buyer and tell him the Bad News.jimsz quote:Originally posted by Michael:Well this item went for $2079.00. You may have an idea on the authenticity of the autograph but unless you would be willing to back it up legally it means little and is truly nobody else's business.Contacting the buyer and expressing your "thoughts" I would guess could be possible slander against the seller. eBay is a garage sale and if someone is stupid enough to spend $2k on an item without either the knowledge or paying for the knowledge of someone else they are taking their chances.capoetcThe amazing thing to me is that there were SIX unique bidders on this item (several bid more than once), and each bid $500+!!! Unfortunately, this item is likely to become the prized possession for the winning bidder, only to reappear on the market one day to be sold again as an authentic Armstrong autograph. Incidentally, why do you suppose he wouldn't have posted the authentic Armstrong signature he received on the airport photo? He seems to be so proud of it (a through-the-mail autograph) that he is willing to part with the signed photo handed directly to him by Neil. Interesting.------------------John CapobiancoCamden DE
